Funded by the Ministry of Defence Armed Formed Covenant Grant, Amazing Aviation highlighted the RAF’s social, cultural and economic contribution to both Lincolnshire and the wider UK.
Using a raft of multi-media techniques, a unique script and a team of experienced actors, Amazing Aviation performed to over 17,000 children young people and their families at schools, community centres and RAF bases in summer 2014. The positive reaction from all 40 schools has meant that future plans for the production are now being discussed.
The show acknowledges the social, spiritual, cultural and economic contribution the UK’s Armed Forces has and is making to Lincolnshire and the UK. By targeting Lincolnshire’s aviation heritage, the project is able to capture the imagination and curiosity of a wide range of people.
Significant international anniversaries in 2014 offer Lincolnshire’s communities insight into the sacrifices faced by the Armed Forces community.
Amazing Aviation is creating something special that brings the Armed Forces community together with the wider local community. In some cases this already happens; what the show offers is a central event for the whole family providing a unique springboard for future community development work.
The show reflects upon the past; in so doing it is hoped that some sense and order can be made of the present.
